ChatGPT Exporter("the Extension") helps you export your own ChatGPT conversations from the ChatGPT website. This policy explains what data the Extension accesses and how it is handled.

Summary

All processing happens locally in your browser.
We do not collect, store, or transmit your data to any external server.
Exported files are saved only on your device.

Data the Extension Accesses

When you click "Export All Conversations", the Extension may read:

Conversation titles visible in the ChatGPT sidebar
Conversation URLs on chatgpt.com or chat.openai.com
Message content displayed on the ChatGPT page (user and assistant messages)

The Extension only runs on ChatGPT pages after you open the popup and start an export. It does not run in the background without your action.

How Data Is Used

Data is used solely to:

Build a structured export file (JSON or Markdown)
Trigger a download to your computer via the Chrome downloads API

No analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking of conversation content is included.

Data Storage & Transmission

The Extension does not maintain a remote database.
Conversation content is not sent to the developer or any third party.
Temporary in-memory processing occurs only during an active export session.

Permissions Explained

activeTab: interact with the ChatGPT tab you are using
scripting: inject the exporter if the content script is not yet loaded
downloads: save the export file to your device
host_permissions (chatgpt.com): read conversation data when you export

Third-Party Services

The Extension interacts with the ChatGPT website operated by OpenAI. Your use of ChatGPT is subject to OpenAI's terms and privacy policy. This Extension is not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI.

Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data.
